At Focus Homecare, we believe that quality care starts with confident, well-informed caregivers. That’s why we created the Training Center for Care Excellence — a hands-on learning space dedicated to equipping both our staff and family caregivers with the tools they need to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care at home at no cost.
Located in our Salem, CT office, our training room offers complimentary, in-person training to the community. Our interactive sessions are designed to build confidence and practical non-medical caregiving skills.
Whether you’re a family member caring for a loved one, a community member wanting to be prepared, or a caregiver looking to sharpen your knowledge, We are here for you.
Because when caregivers thrive, those they care for do too.

Wednesday June 11, 2025 6 PM
Comfort & Dignity: A Guide to Hospice Support
- Hosted by certified Death Doula, Cathy Yuhas, RN (Founder of Dying Matters), she will be sharing her deep knowledge, wisdom, and comforting messages around end-of-life dignity and care.
Thursday July 24, 2025 6 PM
Hands-on Personal Care with Dignity
- This hands-on class is designed to teach caregivers and loved ones how to assist with daily personal care tasks while preserving a person's dignity, independece, and comfort. Come meet Fergie, our resident mannequin!
Wednesday August 27, 2025 6 PM
Caring for Stroke Survivors
- This hands-on class is designed to equip caregivers and loved ones with the knowledge and confidence to care for a loved one recoving from a stroke. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of stroke-related challenges and learn essential techniques to support both physical and emotional healing.

Training Waiver
Focus Homecare Class Waiver
By registering for and participating in any class, training, or event offered by Focus Homecare’s Training Center for Care Excellence, I acknowledge and agree to the following:
- I understand that participation in hands-on demonstrations and activities may involve physical movement and interaction with equipment (e.g., hospital beds, lifts, mobility aids), and I assume full responsibility for my participation.
- I certify that I am physically able to participate in the training and will inform the instructor of any limitations or medical conditions.
- I release and hold harmless Focus Homecare, its staff, instructors, affiliates, and partners from any and all liability, claims, or demands for personal injury, loss, or damage to property that may arise from my participation in the training.
- I understand that these events are for educational purposes only and do not constitute certification or professional licensure unless otherwise specified.
- I consent to the possible use of photographs or video from training sessions for educational or promotional purposes by Focus Homecare, unless I opt out in writing prior to the class.
By submitting a registration, I confirm that I have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to this waiver.
